Who We Are

Nurturing Roots Parent Academy (NRPA) is a New Orleans–based nonprofit that empowers parents, educators, and students to build strong family–school partnerships and dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline.

What We Do

We provide parent training, educator workshops, and student programs that promote equity, advocacy, and academic success—strengthening communities from the classroom to the home.

Our Theory of Change

When parents, educators, and communities work together with shared understanding and purpose, students can thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Problem:
Systemic inequities, broken family–school relationships, and biased disciplinary practices contribute to the school-to-prison pipeline, especially in marginalized communities.

Our Approach:
NRPA disrupts these patterns through education, advocacy, and partnership.

We:

  • Equip educators with trauma-informed, equity-centered practices.

  • Empower parents to become informed advocates and partners in learning.

  • Engage students through tutoring and leadership opportunities that build confidence and connection.

  • Unite communities around shared accountability and collective healing.

Our Impact:
By strengthening parent–school partnerships, NRPA reduces suspensions, improves literacy, and increases family engagement—creating safer, more equitable learning environments where every child can succeed.

Our Vision:
A future where every family is informed, every educator is empowered, and every child is free to learn, lead, and live without limits.
